Our faith is not modern.
Our hope is eternal life.
Our love is Jesus Christ.
In order to accomplish this work, we understand there must be principles, rules, and laws to govern our conduct. These are summed up in the standard we follow. Since our resolve is to follow God, we have renounced man's creeds, doctrines and faiths. The standard we follow is simply the Word of God; found in what is called the Bible or the Scriptures (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Both Old and New Testaments contain all the information needed to guide us in this effort. From this approach of maintaining New Testament Christianity, here are some of the principles we follow:
1.) Colossians 3:17. "And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father." (NASB). Whatever we say or do must be authorized.
2.) 1 Peter 4:11. "Whoever speaks, let him speak, as it were, the utterances of God . . ."(NASB). We must speak as God speaks.
3.) Leviticus 10:1-2. "Now Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took their respective firepans, and after putting fire in them, placed incense on it and offered strange fire before the LORD, which He had not commanded them. "And fire came out from the presence of the LORD and consumed them, and they died before the LORD." (NASB). We must be silent where God is silent. If there is no command, approved example or necessary inference, then God is silent. See also Jeremiah 7:30&31.
4.) John 17:20-21. "I do not ask in behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; that they may all be one; even as Thou, Father, art in Me, and I in Thee, that they also may be in Us; that the world may believe that Thou didst send Me." (NASB) Unity among members must prevail. See also John 17:11-23; Ephesians 4:3-6; Mark 3:25.
5.) 1 Corinthians 1:10. "Now I exhort you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all agree, and there be no divisions among you, but you be made complete in the same mind and in the same judgment." (NASB). Division among members is condemned in this passage.
